Assistants and Office Elders

 

My sixty-fifth birthday was somewhat softened by all the wonderful well-wishes I received.  The entire United States celebrated with me by having a national holiday, I heard from my kids, my mother, my sister, and my brother, and tons of my facebook friends posted their greetings online.  I received cards in the mail, and several missionaries signed a beautiful card, and some brought me cards, but my favorite gifts were the songs from the missionaries.  First, the assistants and office elders sang to me.  Later on in the day the Chinese missionaries sang Happy Birthday in English and again in Chinese, and last of all, Elder Heaton had me rolling with his funny birthday song.  Even though I never saw any of my family, I had one of the sweetest birthdays ever.  Guess that's one of the extra blessings of serving the Lord as a missionary.
