Senior Family Home Evening 14 March 2011



We had a wonderful FHE tonight at the home of Elder and Sister Brighton, directors of the Oakland Temple Visitors' Center, hosted by Elder and Sister Hayden Lambson.  We celebrated Saint Patty's Day with a great dinner followed by a fun activity and some good laughs.  We look forward every second Monday night to these senior couple get-togethers.

We've had a great week and are doing well.  We only have four months left on our mission and want to enjoy every minute.  Our work in the office is going better than ever - just when we have finally learned our duties, it's almost time to head for home! 



Dix & Sara Newell's Home 11 March 2011



We had a great time Friday night at the home of Dix and Sara Newell, who have served three missions for the Church.  They're an awesome couple.  We went with Elder and Sister Heaton, who are going home on April 25th, and enjoyed a delicous dinner and visiting with the Newells in their lovely home.  They are assigned to the ward we attend.  We actually felt like normal people in our casual clothes, sitting by a crackling fire in a real fireplace, listening to nice music, and having a good time. 

 

Temple Hill Seen from our Neighborhood



I took this picture with my BlackBerry a few houses down from our apartment on a walk around the neighborhood this past Saturday morning.  It was a beautiful day and the Oakland temple looked magnificent sitting high on Temple Hill.  We will miss this beautiful view.

These wonderful missionaries will be missed for sure.  We enjoyed serving with them.  They were not only good missionaries - they are talented and capable young men and women in so many ways.  The three sisters in the middle are from England, China, and Singapore, and the other missionaries are from all over the United States.  We hope to keep in touch with them!
